Cooking deserts over the campfire without a dutch oven?

I can find tons of recipes that allow you to cook over a campfire with a dutch oven. My problem is I don't have a lid for my cast iron that would enable me to create a dutch oven. Does any one know of any deserts that can be cooked without a lid over a campfire?

I just bought an enameled cast iron dutch oven. Does anyone have any good recipes or website with recipes?

I have several new recipes I would like to try; however, they all call for "Dutch Ovens". What is this? I know I don't have one and the last thing I need is a new appliance. Can I make in a regular oven instead? If so, do I need to alter the temperature? What are the benefits of a Duth Oven?

I just ordered a cookbook strictly with recipes for a dutch oven. I love to cook and bought one for less than , and it has served the purpose. In this new book though, you cook breads, desserts, etc. with it. Do you think the cheaper kind would work for these recipes? Thanks
