Can I use plastic bag crock pot liners in my dutch oven?
I am taking a bunch of Scouts camping and we have used the aluminum dutch oven liners in the past (love them), but those are sort of bulky and I wondered if the plastic bag crock pot liners would do the same job with less packing space. My worry is that they will melt or are pierced easily when trying to serve.
When a recipe calls for cooking in a dutch oven, is there a go around?
I don't own one and I was unsure if a standard pot would suffice. Thanks.
What exactly is a dutch oven?
I cook and bake from scratch often and every once in a while I come across a recipe that requires a dutch oven. I'm not exactly sure what it is...is it just a large pot? Can a large pot or something else be a substitute for a dutch oven?
Thanks for answering!
Can I substitute a regular pot for a “Dutch Oven”?
I'm making a sweet potato casserole and the recipe says to boil the potatoes in a dutch oven... but I don't have one. I don't care if I have to buy one... but if I don't have to... I would rather save my money for christmas gifts... I have a regular ol' pot though... Will it suffice?

Dutch oven?
I have a dutch oven, but never made anything in it. How is it different from any other pot with lid, and do you have any great recipes I can use with it?
What exactly is a dutch oven? What would go well with this recipe?
This recipe says to use a dutch oven, can I use a normal oven?

Also, what would go well with this recipe?
AND NO I DO NOT MEAN THE SEXUAL THING.
So could I just use a big pot that I normally cook my soups in?
Will making Coq au Vin in my bare cast iron dutch oven disintegrate its seasoning?
I can't afford those expensive Le Creuset ones so I bought a super cheap Lodge dutch oven. Since Coq au vin has wine, which is an acid, will cooking Coq au vin in seasoned cast iron for the prolonged period of time disintegrate my hard earned seasoning? Is it really worth an extra 170 bucks for a pot?
How do I reseason an antique dutch oven?
My antique dutch oven has a rancid smell when it heats up. Is there a way to completely remove the seasoning and start fresh with such an old pot? I have cooked stew in it and it had the same rancid smell to it. Yuk. I don't know what it might have been used for in the past, and I just don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new le creuset dutch oven when this one might work just as well.
