what is the difference between enameled cast iron dutch oven and Le Creuset french ovens?

    The price and the quality of the Le Cruset……I think it’s a nice "look", but for practicality, it’s too damned heavy……I had a chance to pick up some LC at an outlet store, getting a "second", which was about 160 bucks for a 7.5 Dutch oven…..but, once you get it filled up with food, they weigh in at , well, a LOT…….I do have LC bake ware, (the ceramic type) which I really like, it performs like a pro~even heating, etc……..As far as the Le Cruset Enameled Cast Iron, I’d pass, and I’m professionally trained……

    If I were you, I’d go with a Wagner Brand Cast Iron Dutch Oven and skip the enamel part of it altogether.
    The $200 one is going to be better. But not four times better.
    Im guessing the difference between Dutch Oven and French Oven is about $150.00.

    Le Creuset will last for your lifetime, and probably your grandkids. You get what you pay for.

    I have a very large enameled cast iron dutch oven – I do not like it. I am going to go and get a cast iron dutch oven but not enameled…..
    I would not pay that much for the other one for cooking in my home..
    My Family & Guest are "NOT" that particuar nor will they notice the difference in the final product…the food on the table.
