A dutch oven is a very versatile kitchen tool. Probably its most common use is to prepare larger quantities of soups, stews, and sauces (such as spaghetti sauce). But it can also be used for roasts, tenderloins, etc. When I was a kid (before the days of microwaves), my family used a dutch oven to make popcorn. Really, you can use it for just about any stove-top recipe in place of a frying pan or sauce pan. It’s great for one-pot cooking when you need to first brown ground beef and then add other ingredients. If yours is oven-safe, a great use is to brown the outside of a roast with the high heat of the stove top, then add fresh veggies and put the whole thing in the oven to slow-cook for a tender inside. The possibilities are endless!

Pot Roast is good.
I’ve baked biscuits in mine while camping. Put the biscuits inside and put on lid. Put coals on top of lid. Cook for a 15 minutes.
You can cook almost anything in a Dutch oven. Stews, soups, meats, vegetables, breads, desserts. You can fry things in it and bake in it. A Dutch oven holds heat really well. There are lots of Dutch oven recipes at http://www.outdoorcookingmagic.com/
