From a professional Dutch oven instructor and chef You can not use plastic liners in your Dutch oven in fact there is no reason tu use liners at all unless you dont have enough ovens to cook in then you can just swap a liner of uncooked food for a liner of cooked food and keep cooking. There is no need to use liners in your Dutch ovens other than the purpose i just stated. otherwise you are not allowing the D.o. to work its magic on the food you are preparing. if you are worried about space use parchment liners available at wal mart or better yet leave all the liners at home and carry a spray bottle of vegetable oil, not Pam, and spray oil liberally into the Dutch oven before cooking each dish. If you oil everytime you cook something in your Dutch oven and clean the Dutch oven when it is warm or hot cleaning should take less than 1 minute for each Sutch oven.

I would worry they would melt as well. The crock pot doesn’t get as hot as a dutch oven can and if it does indeed melt, how would you ever get it off. I wouldn’t take the risk.

I wouldn’t chance it. Too much direct heat. You don’t want a bunch of hungry scouts with a meal that contains melted plastic do you?

You can use the Reynolds oven roasting bags. They will take up to 325 degrees, so as long as the Dutch Oven doesn’t get too near the fire you should be okay. Not sure how high the plastic crock pot bags go.

A simple pot rack or suspending it should get it far enough away from the fire.
